A BMN musician is someone who joins an edition of The BMN (the concept) to ultimately play at that The show (the BMN).
A musician can fall within one of two categories. They can be someone who passed the Auditions for the edition and are accepted for one or more disciplines they auditioned for. Another possibility is that they are a Committee member . In this case, they wouldn’t necessarily have to pass the auditions, but they do help with organizing. As a committee member, there is no limitation on the disciplines you can take on, as long as you can reasonably fulfill it.
Musicians at the BMN must be a member of either A-Eskwadraat, Sticky, or both.
To enable the Operations manager to publish the rehearsal schedule on time, musicians should fill in their availability at least 5 days before the rehearsal.
To ensure that each song gets sufficient Rehearsal time, musicians are expected to be available at least 50% of the rehearsal time. This means that at a minimum, they are either available for the entire rehearsal every other week, or available for half of the rehearsal every week.
Once the schedule has been published, changes in availability are the musician’s own responsibility. This means that the musician should find someone to replace them for all their scheduled Songs. Preferably, a replacement should be found as soon as possible, to give them sufficient time to prepare the song.
Band members are expected to be present at the rehearsal studio at least 5 minutes before the time slot for their Song starts. In principle, band members should not be late, but if this does occur due to unforeseen circumstances they should inform their Band coach as soon as possible. This way, the Operations manager may have time to change up the schedule to work around the unavailability. If a musician is more than 5 minutes late for a rehearsal, this is considered as equivalent to missing the rehearsal for that song as it will start cutting into useful rehearsal time. An exception is when a musician is not able to join one of their song’s rehearsals in consultation with the Operations manager . This can occur when, for example, a musician is scheduled for 2 songs at the same time, or when a musician has communicated (there would be a chance that) they won’t make a rehearsal slot when filling in availability.
If a musician has or predicts issues with their rehearsal capacity, for example because they cannot be in the studio for an extended time period without taking a break or because they cannot play a specific combination of Songs during the same rehearsal, they should inform the Operations manager . If this occurs unexpectedly after the schedule has been published, it is the musician’s responsibility to find a replacement and inform the committee.
For rehearsals during Rehearsal weekend and ‣, committee and musician attendance is mandatory.
Consequenties
Musicians are expected to prepare and practice their Songs at home and should know their individual parts when they get to the Rehearsal. If a musician is unable to prepare their song, they should inform their Band coach and fellow band members. It is important that a musician maintains all the songs they’re on throughout the year, even when they aren’t scheduled for the upcoming rehearsal.
