A committee member is a Musician of The BMN (the concept) that also has one or multiple Committee role. In addition to responsiblities related to being a musician and to their specific role(s), several things are expected of a committee member.
The committee as a whole is responsible for organizing Events throughout the year, The show (the BMN), and the wellbeing of other Musicians. Therefore, any committe member is involved in tasks and decisions related to this.
BMN committee members must be members of A-Eskwadraat. If one wants to join the committee as a Sticky-only member, the A-Eskwadraat board can help them with their membership
In general, committee members are expected to be present at and contribute to Meetings, unless they are unavailable. During this meeting, they may be assigned tasks or responsibilities that go beyond their Committee role. To prepare for a meeting, each committee member is expected to review the agenda in advance (to possibly amend it). and review the notes soon within 7 days after the meeting. Both can be confirmed by pressing the buttons in the meeting pages. One committee member (who has also taken notes) is responsible for cleaning up the notes, and the Chairperson is responsible for transferring the action points to the task list.
The person assuming a committee role does not necessarily have to perform all the tasks falling within its responsibilities themselves, nor should they limit themselves to these. For a well-functioning committee, it is important that a committee member can always expect help from others (even from musicians, in consultation with the committee). Equally important is that, when they have the opportunity, a committee member offers help to others who need it ('From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs'). This applies not only when a committee member is struggling to keep up with their tasks, but also when one has plans (within or outside their role) that they cannot (fully) execute themselves. To restate, committee members are expected to require help from others to fulfill their duties. With this approach, we hope to make optimal use of each other's ideas and capabilities.
If a committee member is, for any reason, unable to carry out a previously assigned task, they should communicate this with the rest of the committee as soon as possible. The task can then be reassigned to another committee member that has the capacity for it.
Committee members should be respectful in their communication, both with fellow committee members and Musicians. Whenever a musician has questions, they should feel free to contact any committee member.
Since decisions and questions related to The BMN (the concept) can be urgent, committee members are expected to respond to BMN-related messages within 24 hours. This does not mean that it needs to be resolved completely within that time-frame, but there should be some form of communication.
