Every committee member is (partially) responsible for coordinating the people in their own discipline (instrument group). Usually, a committee is comprised at least one member for each discipline (except exotics), but they may need to step in for someone else. Here is an overview of the responsibilities:

• Being a point of contact for others in your discipline regarding matters relevant to that discipline. Think of questions about techniques, gear, and other necessities and knowledge. A discipline representative may not always have the answers, but they have other knowledgeable Musicians to fall back on.
• Coordinating how the available gear for your discipline will be used during rehearsals, the show, and other times where instruments are needed. Think of a sheet detailing who will use which guitar with which preset on which amp.
• Preparing for and giving tips to people in their discipline with the goal of rehearsing and performing in a professional manner. This primarily concerns discipline-specific matters such as how to set up the drum kit for drummers, knowledge and etiquette regarding effects for guitarists, warm-up exercises for vocalists, and ensuring that exotics know how to handle their specific microphones. General matters such as how to communicate with monitor engineers and how to make the most of rehearsals will be coordinated centrally as much as possible, but suggestions from discipline representatives are always welcome!
• Any discipline representative may be asked by a Band coach to help resolve an issue during rehearsals.
• Representing the interests of their discipline during Setlist meetings and other decision-making moments. Does a discipline representative represent keyboardists, and is a fellow keyboardist about to be assigned a terribly boring song? Then it is up to them to bring this to the attention of the other committee members so that the keyboardist in question meets a better fate.
• Assessing candidates, particularly those from their own discipline. Every committee member present assesses every candidate, but the votes of those with more expertise in the candidate's discipline will carry more weight.

In carrying out many of these responsibilities, assistance can be sought from fellow Musicians. They often also possess a wealth of knowledge and skills that can help the entire discipline.
