Your Audition will consist of multiple parts. First you will be doing a quick range test, then you’ll be doing a harmony test, and lastly you’ll be singing two 3-minute songs of your choosing over a backing track.
We advice you to warm up your voice before auditioning, you can do this at home or at the audition location, provided you arrive early enough.
The range test is split into two parts. In both parts, you will sing the note that is played on the piano by one of the committee members.
First, we’ll start at middle C and, along the C major scale, we will continuously move one note down until we reach the low end of your range. Then, we do the exact same thing, but going upwards. During the range test, try to stay in your chest voice for as long as you can, before switching to your head voice. This will give us an even clearer image of your voice’s capabilities.
Please don’t hold back when it gets too high/ low for you, it is perfectly normal for your voice to crack or act out in any other way during a range test. The range test won’t be a significant part of your assessment. It mostly serves as an indication for which songs would suit your voice best.
For the harmony test, you will sing a harmony to the chorus of Hold The Line by Toto. During your audition you will sing one of the harmonies, while @Marije sings the lead.
You can choose between harm 1 and harm 2, and you are of course allowed to execute said harm an octave lower/ higher if that suits your voice better.
Below, you’ll find all the tracks you need to practice a harmony. I don’t recommend accidentally practicing the lead, but I do recommend practicing with the lead, as you will be singing it with the lead during your audition as well. During the harmony test, the keys-track will be playing as backing.
